Product Description:
Every year, for several wonderful days, the city of Rio de Janeiro transforms into the most extravagant city in Brazil. In a frenzy of music, dance sequins and feathers, the Cariocas (local inhabitants) and countless others celebrate carnaval. From the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana to the Old City and beyond, revelers don sparkly and exotic costumes and take to the streets. The flamboyant balls, boisterous parades and fantastic street carnavals that continue on throughout the festival are legendary.

One brown-eyed beauty enters the throng, ready to party! With pure joy, she joins the dancers and moves to the rhythms of the samba - a delirious mixture of African and Portuguese music. Instruments blare as people sing along the the incessant drum beats. This is the carnaval she will never forget. Barbie Carnaval is dressed in a detailed purple and pink outfit. Doll measures 12″ tall.

Inspired Me to Start My Daughter’s Collection by Mama1011
This doll is beautiful. That’s just as real as it gets. I’ve seen Barbie Collectibles before, but they’ve generally turned me off because they appeared to be all basically the same doll in a different dress, albeit wonderful dresses. I love this doll because it celebrates that diversity of culture.

I saw this doll, then the Diwali Doll, which is equally beautiful, I bought them both and now I am hooked. I bought some books and I am seeking out some of the more traditional dolls as well; I’ve purchased 3 more dolls since. None of that would have happened without this beautiful and meaningful doll. It really spoke to me.

My little lady is part Brasileiro. I spent so much time looking for a doll that reflects her diversity, but that’s hard to find in a baby doll.

This doll is her heritage. The samba costume is beautiful and exotic, not risque. To say such a thing is turned one’s nose up at a tradition that people are proud to celebrate. We should continue to embrace the dimensions added to our lives by learning and accepting the diversity of the world’s people.

reminds me of home by Asha Claxton
This doll reminds me of home - Trinidad and Tobago. On the left side of her face she has a tatoo (if I can call it that) of Trinidad. She looks everything like Carnival - our biggest event of the year. In case you don’t know of Trinidad and Tobago, carnival and steelpan is our thing. Our country comprises people of all ethnicities and races. Most of us, like myself, they call ‘callaloo’ because we are mixed with everything from Spanish and African to Indian and Chinese. You would have a blast if you visit Trinidad and Tobago and when you do, this doll will become more than just a collector’s item…it will become part of a beautiful memory. So just because she looks like a ‘TRINI’ I give her a SUPER BIG 5

Let’s Keep It Real People! by Transformer Otaku
As a collector of action figures, this doll gets my highest rating. As the title of this particular series states “Dolls of the World”, the Carnival Barbie Doll does more than just entertain little girls, it teaches us all about racial and ethnic diversity (the greatest strength in American society today) as well as some aspects of South American culture. Anyone (adults and children alike) who cannot appreciate the fact that this collector’s doll is “different” from any other Barbie doll in several, very good ways is probably racially or ethnically challenged.

Aesthetically, this doll is a beautiful collector’s piece that would make an excellent addition to any Barbie collection. One more thing worth mentioning is that the eye lashes are rooted in, just like the hair. They are not painted on. This is a clear testament of the doll’s collector quality. The costume is identical to those worn during Brazillian carnivals which is part of the doll’s motif and meaning. I fail to see how this costume differs from that of a Barbie doll wearing a bikini. No one seems to be offended by that.

I highly recommend this doll to any collector who appreciates a fine work of art that embodies ethnic diversity. Any kids or adults who feel that the Carnival Barbie is too “risqué” should refrain from purchasing it.

Hmm… strange doll by Addicted To It
It looks very strange and interesting. I’m rating it 4 because it doesn’t look like the best doll, but it does look unique. I’m a fan of strangeness it toys/barbies myself, so when I saw this doll I thought: Hey! This is pretty cool. I for any who likes it’s any ugly doll - it does say Carnaval. (I have nothing aganist the carnaval, but it does look like a carnaval-type outfit)
